Daniel Leatherman, 26, from Arizona, told police he injured himself when he went to investigate an argument between a man he knew and a taxi driver outside his apartment. Leatherman explained he took his gun with him for protection, as the man who was causing the racket, Cody Nunn, had assaulted him in the past. Leatherman accidentally dropped his weapon as he tried to conceal it behind his back. The gun went off as it hit the floor and a bullet got lodged in his buttocks. Leatherman was taken to hospital and released later on the same day. Nunn - who was said to be drunk and disruptive when he arrived at the hospital with Leatherman - was arrested on suspicion of disorderly conduct. Breast legA Canadian man has had silicone breast implants in his leg - to make his tattoo of a buxom lady look more realistic. Lane Jensen, who already has a number of tattoos, decided his figure wasn't voluptuous enough so had it surgically enhanced. Brian Decker, owner of the firm Pure Body Arts, carried out the strange surgery which lasted just 45 minutes and Lane - who was left with a small bruise - was delighted with the results. 1/29/2007 Bizarre Holidays in FebruaryFebruary 1 is . . . . . Serpent Day
Swallow the evidenceA UK man who attempted to steal an expensive engagement ring by swallowing it was caught after police passed a metal detector over his stomach. Simon Hooper, 28, from Dorset, wanted the £1,750 ring to propose to his girlfriend and so gulped it down last November while jeweller Fred Burgess was distracted. Police X-rayed Hooper and discovered the ring. When shown the incriminating X-ray, Hooper claimed he had swallowed some foil by accident. The hopeless romantic was kept in the cells for three days until the platinum ring passed through his system. Hooper was sentenced to 12 weeks for theft. Bare-bottom bandiA US burglar has been dubbed the 'bare-bottom bandit' after his trousers fell down, exposing his buttocks to CCTV cameras. Christopher Willever drunkenly broke into an empty Tobacco Hut store in Nebraska after drinking a bottle of rum and deciding he was fed up of being poor. But the 22-year-old was so drunk he didn't realise as he crawled around the floor of the store that his trousers were around his knees, exposing his rear-end to the security cameras. Judge Thomas Otepka - who sentenced Willever to five years in jail - said: "You were an ass in every true sense of the word in this crime." His defence attorney, Kelly Steenbock, attempted to plead for a lenient sentence, saying: "He was pretty humiliated and embarrassed. He showed his bottom to whoever turned on the TV." Blind drunkA drunken US man has damaged his eyes while trying to remove his contact lenses. The intoxicated man staggered into an emergency room in Pennsylvania complaining of severe pain when he tried to take out his lenses. He told doctors the lenses would come out halfway but then popped back into place. A nurse used a suction pump in an attempt to remove the lenses without success. Finally a doctor suggested he should examine the patient's eyes - and realised he hadn't actually put his contact lenses in. The man had been trying to pull out the membrane of his cornea. |
